Initially working as a Plant Inspector, carried out service, repairs and inspections of a wide range of access equipment. Became National Service Manager responsible for service policy including major acquisitions, budgets and staff.
Promoted to National Operations Manager; Responsibilities included access equipment evaluation and purchasing. Service and maintenance departments & transport department. Operators licence holder for the group, ensured correct maintenance and adherence to legislation. Organised service & operator training, designed service and inspection schedules, liaised with manufacturers regarding all technical issues.
M & J Engineers:
Service Manager – Powered Access Division.
1987 - 1990
Joined newly formed aerial work platform division as a mobile service engineer. Repaired and inspected a fleet of over 150 machines both in the depot and on site. Became Service Manager, responsibilities included developing effective service and inspection schedules, liaising with suppliers and running a team of engineers.

1983-1987
Served an excellent four-year apprenticeship working in the service department on the complete refurbishment of a wide range of used cranes. Also building new and prototype cranes and hoists through all stages of assembly including final tests and inspections.
